Product variants are used to manage products that have different variations, like size, color, etc.
Follow the steps below to set up your variants.

In the steps below, we will setup set up variants for a cordless tool product an air compressor with multiple power color options.

Part 1: Creating variants manually
1. The first step is to create a "Variation Group" for Cordless Tools. This variation group has two attributes: voltage and battery capacity.
The reason for this is that as you add more products, you will not have to keep adding the attributes manually.

2.3. Enter the attribute name (Ex: Color, Size, Voltage).

In the "Documentation" box enter the descriptive text to help the customer enter the value

3.1 Select the "Variants" tab and select "Change Variation Group"

*This step will need to be done for each variant needed to be added
3.4 Enter variant name and select the appropriate option in the drop-down menus. Click "Continue."
3.6. Check "Core Attributes" and click "Save."

(a) You can create a variable product from scratch by selecting "Add product" on the product list page, filling out the necessary data and selecting "Continue"
(b) You can also create a variable product via simple import.
2. Once your variable product has been created and set up you must determine what attribute data will be shown on the parent page.
(a) Go into the variable/parent product page navigate to the "Variants" tab and click "Set Options"
(b) You must determine what product data will show up on this page and click "Save"
Note: Choosing the identifying attributes and any attribute that makes the variant unique is recommended for easy navigation.
3. Your variant option headers are now populated.
(a) The next step is to create the variants by clicking "New Variant"
(b) Input all the necessary data and click "Continue"
(c) This window will allow you to select which attribute groups will be attached to your variant product. Once you have made your selections click "Create"
4. Your variant products are now created. You can go into each variant to add the rest of your necessary data.
Part 2: Creating variants through simple imports
Catsy also allows users to create variable and variant products simultaneously via simple import. The following column headers on your spreadsheet are required in order for the import to work correctly.
You may add additional attribute columns as needed. Ex: Name & Color
Number: A unique product number.
Catsy$parent_number: The variable product number that the variants will be attached to.
Type: The product type - Parent product=Variable, Options=Variants
