- Create a new category that will have specific attributes by clicking the red pencil and selecting "New Category"
- Click "TOOLS" on the top toolbar and select "Manage Fields"
- Select the new category from the left side and on the upper right, select the "New" button
- In the botton left corner, search the Available fields box for the fields you want to add if you have already created them and click the "->" button to add them. If not, click the green "New" button on the left of the box to create the new fields. Once all fields are created or added, click "Save" on the botton and close the window.
Click the "TOOLS" section on the top toolbar again and select "Import Content"
In the "SELECT IMPORT TYPE" drop down, choose"Items with Specifications"
On the left hand side, find the category you want to add specific data to. In the bottom "Spec" box, select all the attributes you want to keep track of and click the "->" button to add them to the right column. Click the "Select" button.
Next prepare your spreadsheet for importing. To do this, Make sure to add a column for each category tier your category is apart of. Notice how the example spreadsheet contains three categories because it is nested in three different categories; "Computers,Printers & Accessories", "Printers/ Toners & Supplies" and Laser Toner Cartidge". Add categories according to this convention and make sure all rows have a record associated with it.
Next, save this file as a "Tab Dilimited Text (.txt)" format - In the Catsy Portal, Choose your file in the "Select input file" and click "Continue"
- Make sure all the fields from the spreadsheet match the fields from the database. if they do not, click the drop down menu and find the right field.
Read through the import log and make sure there are no errors then click importYou have succesfully imported category specific data into the Catsy databaseYou have successfully create category specific fields.
