Part 1: Creating Import Template

(aThere are two pathways for importing product data into Catsy, one pathway for new products and a second pathway for updating existing products. If you are importing new products, start with Pathway 1 below. If you are updating existing products, scroll down to Pathway 2.

Pathway 1: Importing New Products

(1a) From the Catsy dashboard select Tools > Imports > Simple Imports

(b) In order to import new products, you must import a formatted spreadsheet so that the system knows exactly how to build your new products. You can download a template by clicking the "Proceed to download template" link.

(c) On this screen, you will select all the attributes you will want on your downloaded template file.  You can either click your desired attribute individually or select All Attributes. Once done click "Download template"

(d) Your downloaded spreadsheet will contain all your selected attribute names (Row 4) 
Which item type each attribute is enabled for. (Row 3)
The attribute group in which each attribute belongs (Row 2)
Note: All header rows EXCEPT for the attribute names row must be deleted before uploading back into Catsy

(e) Fill out your spreadsheet with your product data and your spreadsheet will be ready for importing

Part 2: Importing Data into Catsy

(a) From the Catsy dashboard select Tools > Imports > Simple Imports

(b) From this screen, you will select “Import Product” then click “Continue

(c) Once your spreadsheet is ready you can simply upload it here.

(d) This is the screen where you will verify your data before importing it into the system. Once verified click “Continue
NOTE: Make sure your data is lined up with the appropriate attribute.

(e) This summary screen will tell you all about your import including item processed, warning, and a detailed error report. Once all issues have been resolved click “Continue” to push the import through.

(1b) Next select “Import Products” and click the “Continue” button.

(1c) Now click the “Proceed to download template” link.

(1d) Next click “Default Product Import” and then click “Continue.”

(We HIGHLY recommend selecting “Default Product Import.” Selecting “Default Product Import” will provide you with a spreadsheet for listing your product data that is pre-populated with the correct Attribute Names, Attribute Groups and Picklist values. This eliminates many common user errors, such as misspelled Attribute Names and invalid Picklist values, and ensures that the new products get the correct Attribute Groups. “Minimal Product Import” does not include Attribute Groups, Picklist values or localized Attributes if you operate in multiple languages. Only select “Minimal Product Import” if you are confident in your ability to manually provide valid Picklist values and know how to manually assign the correct Attribute Groups to the products.)

(1e) Now select the Attribute Groups or Attribute Names needed for the new products you are importing and then click “Download Template.”

(If you are unsure which Attribute Groups or Attribute Names you need for the new products you are importing, simply check the box for “All Attributes” and then click “Download Template.”)

(1f) Your template will download to your computer. When opened, it will look something like this. Simply add your new product data to the template and be sure to save your work.

(1g) When you have finished adding your new product data to the template, depending on where you are in the interface, click the “Continue” button as shown above in (1b) or (1e). Next, as shown below, click the “Choose a file” button and select your completed new product template from your computer. Then click “Continue.”

(1h) Clicking the “Continue” button, as shown above, will process your new product spreadsheet. When your spreadsheet has been fully processed, you will see a Validation screen similar to the one shown below.

Your new product data has been successfully imported! Clicking the “Finish” button will take you to your products queue. If you have any questions about this import process, simply send and email to support@catsy.com.

Pathway 2: Importing Updated Products

(2a) First, export the product data that you want to update. Instructions on the how to export product data can be found here: Exporting Items . When opened, your exported product data will look something like this:

(2b) When you have finished updating your product data and have saved your work, click Tools > Imports to begin the import process.

(2c) Next select “Import Products” and click the “Continue” button.

(2d) Now click the “Choose a file” button and select your completed product template from your computer. Then click “Continue.”

(2e) Clicking the “Continue” button, as shown above, will process your updated product spreadsheet. When your spreadsheet has been fully process, you will see a Validation screen similar to the one shown below.

Your updated product data has been successfully imported! Clicking the “Finish” button will take you to your products queue. If you have any questions about this import process, simply send and email to support@catsy.com.
